[Hugh Weber](https://www.soundersfc.com/club/staff/hugh-weber?ref=lobbingscorchers.com) is leaving his role as president of business operations for the Seattle Sounders and Seattle Reign to join the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers, but Wednesday's[ report from Sportico](https://www.sportico.com/personalities/executives/2026/edmonton-oilers-ceo-hugh-weber-1234941119/?ref=lobbingscorchers.com) on his departure also gave us an interesting glimpse at how much the Sounders’ business has grown.

Sportico reported that Sounders revenue increased from $75 million three years ago to $105 million during the 2025 season, a 40% increase. The latter figure is $5 million higher than Forbes’ $100 million estimate published earlier this year, although the outlets may calculate revenue differently.

Forbes estimates that the Sounders posted $3 million in operating income, making Seattle one of only 11 MLS clubs that did not lose money.

The revenue growth has coincided with significant investment around the organization. The Sounders and Unico Properties reportedly spent $70 million transforming leased space at Longacres into the club's headquarters and training complex.

In June 2024, the Sounders and Carlyle also completed a $58 million acquisition of a 97% stake in Seattle Reign and OL Groupe

The numbers show significant business growth during Weber's tenure. As he exits for the NHL, it may also intensify questions about whether the club's off-field success is translating into enough investment in the on-field product.
