Seattle Sounders 2-2 San Diego FC · MLS, Matchday 32 · Snapdragon Stadium, October 24 · Goals: Joveljić 50’, Gomez 55’; Dreyer 60’, Bakambu 90+6’ (PK) · Seattle finished the night seventh in the West on 43 points.
A point that felt like a loss. Seattle built a two-goal lead through a spectacular Dejan Joveljić strike and another Sebastian Gomez backpost run, then surrendered it through two penalty sequences. The calls mixed fury over officiating and self-inflicted mistakes with a stubborn belief that this team still has a playoff run in store.
What fans said
Tribe: Seattle are doing this to themselves. Tribe rejects the idea that Seattle’s problem is simply being a bad team. His frustration centered on Hawkins’s unnecessary late shirt pull: there was little immediate danger, yet Seattle handed San Diego the equalizer.
Timbo: The dropped points have consequences. Timbo pointed to wins by Colorado, Portland and Real Salt Lake as the unwelcome backdrop to Seattle’s draw. His concern wasn’t just missing a higher seed: slipping into eighth or ninth would add a Wild Card game to an already demanding playoff path.
Mar10: Deki provides something Seattle have been missing. An incredible "something from nothing" moment with that spectacular opening golazo. Mar10 also stressed that the striker needs time to build chemistry, even while showing how much individual finishing quality can change a game.
Gomez has earned a starting opportunity. Timbo and Mar10 both backed a bigger role for Sebastian Gomez, whose far-post run finished Hassani Dotson’s cross for Seattle’s second goal. The reasonable question is whether his substitute impact translates to starts. This type of production warrants finding out.
The take that's right
Mar10 is right about what Joveljić adds. Seattle needed a striker who can turn an unpromising possession into a goal, and his finish from outside the box supplied the clearest possible example. That ability matters in tight playoff games, when clean chances can be scarce. It also creates an obligation: Seattle must give him better service. A player who can manufacture a goal deserves an attack that regularly creates opportunities for him, rather than relying on another extraordinary finish.

Seattle need to turn promising stretches into three points, and Gomez’s case to start keeps strengthening. With injuries again complicating defensive options, availability will shape the XI. As such, it'll be paramount in this match to establish Seattle's attacking rhythm early and maintain the discipline to finish the job.
