Seattle Sounders forward and 2026 preseason legend Osaze De Rosario is headed overseas for the remainder of the season.
The Sounders have finalized a deal to loan De Rosario to Danish Superliga side Sønderjyske Fodbold, the club announced Tuesday.
The move comes as De Rosario's pathway to playing time in Seattle has suddenly become much more crowded. Seattle recently acquired Designated Player striker Dejan Joveljić from Sporting Kansas City, while Jordan Morris has returned from a lengthy injury absence.
It's a much different situation than the one De Rosario found himself entering the season.

De Rosario initially joined the Sounders organization with MLS NEXT Pro affiliate Tacoma Defiance ahead of the 2024 season, scoring six goals in 22 appearances in his first year with the club.
The son of Canadian and MLS legend Dwayne De Rosario, Osaze exploded out of the gate in the 2025 MLS NEXT campaign, scoring a league-leading eight goals in his first five matches. He eventually finished with 10 goals in 12 NEXT Pro appearances before making the jump to Seattle's first team, earning the league's inaugural Pathway Player of the Year award for his performances across both levels.
The 25-year-old appeared primed for a potential breakout after emerging as one of the surprise stories of Seattle's Leagues Cup 2025 title run. De Rosario scored four times during the tournament, including the opening goal in the Sounders' 3-0 victory over Inter Miami in the final, and his bully-ball finish against the LA Galaxy that was dubbed the "Shake and Quake" by us here at Lobbing Scorchers. He finished the season with five goals across all competitions for Seattle and two more for Tacoma in US Open Cup play.
That production earned him a new contract through the 2028-2029 season, with club options for 2029-2030 and a chance to compete for a larger role. But neither he nor Danny Musovski fully seized the starting No. 9 job, contributing to the team's decision to make the $6 million addition of Joveljić during the summer transfer window.
De Rosario has scored twice in just under 1,000 minutes this season, while Musovski has just one MLS goal after a career-best 14-goal league campaign in 2025.

We'll always have the 2026 preseason, when Osaze looked like a god among men and gave us a jolt of excitement that never quite got realized.
It's unfortunate because De Rosario is a well-rounded striker. His hold-up play is good; he handles the physical side of the game well, and he's a diligent worker. The missing piece was the most important one: He never found the goal-scoring touch consistently enough outside of the one generational Leagues Cup run.
Maybe Denmark is where that changes. A move should give him a better chance to find regular minutes, build confidence and turn all those promising flashes into production. At this point, regular minutes are probably more valuable for the player than fighting for scraps behind Joveljić and Morris.
